WHO WE ARE
Launched in 2024 Insure Our Survival has organised almost 200 direct action campaigns. We’ve collaborated across the UK & globally, targeting those who enable and profit from fossil fuels, weapons of war, and human rights abuses.
THE PROBLEM
Without insurance fossil fuel extraction, weapons manufacture and genocide simply cannot happen. Instead insurers choose to enable human rights abuses already designated by the UN as WAR CRIMES, using your insurance premiums.
HOW WE WIN
Insurance is the weak link. Fossil fuel and arms industries cannot function without it. Cut it, and the system falters.
In 2024, Zurich Global, the sixth-largest fossil fuel insurer in the world, dropped all oil, gas, and coal expansion projects. Forever. The final straw? An IOS direct action in Birmingham, capping off years of pressure by grassroots groups. This has made insurance for all fossil expansion projects more expensive. Forever.
